Genie Zhu, L.Ac.

Licensed Acupuncturist

Genie grew up in NE China to Korean parents in Longjing, Jilin province. In 2011, a visit to her mom, who was then living in the US, led her to try acupuncture.  Medical doctors told her for years there was nothing they could do for her condition. She suffered from extremely irregular menstral cycle and thought for years she would have to live with it.

After only 8 visits, her condition was resolved with regular, monthly periods. She no longer suffered from the pain, fatigue, and emotional ups and downs associated with her period. She was inspired to move to the US and study acupuncture. She was determined to give the gift which transformed her life to as many people. In 2014, she began her journey to become a licensed acupuncturist and enrolled in Long Island’s NYCTCM.  She also had the additional guidance of an experienced mentor.

Her passion is to offer relief to those who have not been able to find help.  She continues to be inspired by her patients and how she has been able to help them. Whether it's someone struggling with symptoms from Long-Covid, irregular painful periods, or cancer treatment support.

Genie views a patient’s healing journey as a process. She likes to incorporate breathing techniques and other strategies to improve well-being. She also provides nutritional guidance including easy to access herbal teas. "Many of us have a lot going on, so I try to suggest ways to achieve health goals in ‘small habits’."

Genie enjoys enriching her education with continuing education.  She loves learning the mechanics of TCM, and how it can treat internal issues in a way no other medicine can. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time in nature, pilates and yoga.

Patient shared stories about the best acupuncture experience in Jersey City

“My practitionerhas been very patient and takes time to explain everything (especially helpful to someone new to acupuncture!) After one treatment, my tight hamstring was already significantly better! I’m also visiting for other health issues and have gotten guidance I can follow outside of the office, including food recommendations. I’ve already recommended to a few other runners, where PT alone isn’t completely solving issues. Acuworx is well organized, clean, has good covid safety standards, and kind practitioners.”

“I absolutely love Acuworx and it has helped me with a variety of concerns. My practitioner is super fantastic, and has experience in both acupuncture, but also in physical therapy. That has been a really useful combination in helping me deal with my chronic back issues. Acupuncture is one of my favorite times of the week - provides such a huge stress and anxiety relief - in addition to helping my back.”

“This is my first experience with acupuncture and I've been very pleased so far. I had a shoulder injury for which I've been doing traditional therapy. I plateaued with the PT and had acupuncture recommended to me. So far the acupuncture has beneficial. I see Alex, who has been just wonderful. She's very engaged, thoughtful, and lovely to work with. The front staff is friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend Acuworx if you're interested in checking out acupuncture.”
