Panos Ioannou, L.Ac., Founder & Principal Acupuncturist

Health and wellness have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a young boy,  I accompanied my mom to the health food store and chiropractor, and regularly took handfuls of vitamins on her insistence. At the time, I didn’t see the value in my mom’s efforts, and certainly didn’t consider myself lucky. It wasn’t until I went to college and studied nutrition that I understood the transformative and healing power of holistic medicine, specifically Chinese Medicine. After completing Rutgers,  PCOM’s master’s program contained intriguing classes such as point location, pulse and tongue diagnostics, Oriental Medicine theory and herbal medicine prescriptions. I knew I found my passion and completed the Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine. Acuworx is the culmination of my 19+ years of experience helping thousands of patients achieve and maintain full health.

My health journey began with the injuries sustained playing high school varsity sports. At 16, I had serious back pain and sprained my ankle every other week. I found a PT who coached me on strength and proper form. It took 3 years of continuous physical therapy to realign my body. The hard work paid off with real results. We won the state championships our senior year!

The pain was gone but I still had sleep and menstrual issues. My PT referred me to an acupuncturist who changed my life. She opened my eyes to this powerful medicine and took the time to listen and ask questions about my sleep, mood, digestion, and childhood traumas. I was fascinated and amazed by the balance it brought me. My acupuncturist was also kind, gentle, and knowledgeable. That experience inspired me to pursue a master’s in Chinese Medicine.

I look forward to treating my future patients in kind, as my mentors have taught me. I can’t wait to work with you on your health and wellness journey.

My interest in health and wellness began at a young age. As a competitive athlete who loved anatomy and physiology, I developed a fascination for the human body and it's abilities.

As I grew older, I learned reaching the body's potential often starts within the mind. I went on to study Health Behavior Science and Psychology at the University of Delaware and pursued a 500 hour education in Personal Training & Nutrition. After graduating, I began my career teaching exercise in physical therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation settings. As I helped patients recover and strengthen physically, I also learned to listen deeper and began to understand the bigger picture.

My approach is not only understanding and healing the physical being, but learning to overcome barriers of the mind. My passion is teaching and providing our community with health resources to help people discover their unique path to wellness.
